It’s our mission to improve the health of our community, so we make every effort to do more than just take care of you when you’re sick or injured—we believe wellness and prevention are just as important.

• We offer routine physicals, unlimited screening mammograms, immunizations, well woman and child exams, screening colonoscopies and many more preventive care benefits—most at no additional cost to our members. 
• All of our plans include Health Dialog—a program that provides tools to help members make smart health decisions and gives them personal support with the information, motivation, and confidence needed to navigate the healthcare system. Every part of the Health Dialog program is developed with unbiased, evidence-based medicine and is available to members at no extra cost.
• We’ve also made arrangements for our members to receive discounts on merchandise like running and walking shoes and cycling equipment, as well as entry fees for community fitness events.

Security and stability

As the local choice, Health First Health Plans provides reliable and robust health plans to meet your everyday needs.   

• We protect you from excessive medical costs by limiting your out of pocket expenses.
• We provide you with direct access to the doctors you need.  We don’t require a referral from your primary care physician to see a network specialist—the choice is yours.
• We offer a special home visitation program for medically-fragile homebound seniors. A doctor will come to you. 
• We have limited restrictions for pre-existing conditions because we know quality care is important to you.

High quality coverage and service

We’re committed to consumer protection, quality improvement and delivering excellent clinical care.

• A study published by the U.S. News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) ranked Health First Health Plans’ Medicare and commercial plans second in Florida for quality and customer service.
• NCQA also awarded Health First Health Plans an accreditation status of "Excellent"—the highest possible level. The Excellent status was based on a voluntary review of how a health plan ensures its members are receiving high-quality care.
• Health First Health Plans was recognized by J.D. Power & Associates for providing “An Outstanding Customer Service Experience” for the second year in a row.
• Unlike our competitors, Health First Health Plans is centrally located within the service area, with our headquarters in the Suntree area of Brevard County.  Our members appreciate the fact that our Customer Service Representatives can better direct them with intimate knowledge of our county and service area.

Innovative approaches for slowing the rise of healthcare costs

We understand our responsibility to safeguard your premium dollars while offering several ways to improve your health and quality of life.

• In 2000, The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) estimated that obesity-related healthcare costs totaled $117 billion and that medical expenditures for obese workers average between 29% and 117% greater than those with normal weight.  Health First Health Plans added fitness center memberships to all fully-insured group plans in 2008, and we are the only commercial carrier in Florida to do so. 
• Our physician certification program encourages and rewards our providers when they meet evidenced-based care benchmarks.
• Although technically a for-profit corporation, Health First Health Plans operates under the governance and philosophy of its not-for-profit parent company, Health First.  As a locally owned and managed health plan, we can ensure premium dollars stay in our area, supporting Health First’s mission of improving the health of our community. Rather than going to outside stockholders, any excess revenue is used to benefit residents of the Space Coast through healthcare projects such as:
  • Expanding services and facilities at Cape Canaveral Hospital, Holmes Regional Medical Center, and Palm Bay Hospital
  • Building a new campus in Viera to include a health park and medical center
  • Supporting Brevard’s only trauma center
  • Providing care to patients regardless of their ability to pay, free educational programs, and more
